Team Performance Effectiveness
Strategies And Practices For Achieving High Performance
TEAM PERFORMANCE MODEL & INDICATOR
Teams can go through many stages and phases along their journey to high performance. Not all teams may become high-performing and some will remain as working groups, pseudo teams, potential teams, or real teams. Most give up somewhere along the way and can stall out or remain satisfied with their performance and not live up to their potential. With intentional effort, teams can improve their performance, but not as an afterthought.
The Drexler Sibbet Team Performance Model is focused on seven stages of team development and display indicators of resolved and unresolved behaviors at each stage. The stages build upon one another in an inclusive way, so a team that handles earlier stages well is better prepared to resolve conflicts and issues that may surface in later stages. All teams experience ups and downs and one new team member changing can impact the dynamic of the entire team. Mastery of managing the continuum between constraints and freedom comes through learning and consciousness.
The TPM Indicator offers the option for teams to assess their progress toward high performance across the seven stages and provide a more data-driven way to address areas of bottleneck and also areas of strength. It also serves as a simple and easy-to-use framework for a common language to discuss and revisit progress and evaluate team growth to achieve high performance.

WHAT IS THIS TOOL?
The TPM is a framework for building high-performing teams and understanding how teams interact in seven different performance areas. Orientation, Trust, Goal Clarification, Commitment, Implementation, High Performance, & Renewal.
WHY USE THIS TOOL?
The TPM is beneficial when there is a new team leader, several new team members join a team, a team that has been together for awhile and needs renewal, a dysfunctional team not working well together, and also a high-performing team who desires continuous improvement. The framework will identify key areas for team growth.
HOW TO USE THIS TOOL?
An introduction to the TPM will help teams to generate open discussion and dialogue about critical topics that need to be surfaced. The framework will create a common language for teams to identify and reflect on how they are doing and what may be causing breakdowns and where there have been breakthroughs. Resolved and unresolved behaviors from a leadership standpoint can be discussed to understand pain points and create an action plan for cultivating progress.
TOOL INFORMATION
The TPM has many dynamic worksheets and activities for teams to leverage as the workshop is customized. Easy application along with the TPM Indicator that teams have the option to use. The framework and the indicator are diagnostic tools that allow teams to address issues clearly.
